AFTERCARE

Calm healing. Thoughtful aftercare.

Permanent Makeup Aftercare

After pigmentation, the treated skin needs time, calm and aftercare tailored to the area and the way it heals.

Redness, mild swelling, a feeling of tightness or fine crusting and flaking may occur during the first few days. The colour will also change as the skin heals and usually appears considerably more intense immediately after treatment than it will later.

Exactly how you should care for the pigmented skin depends on the area treated and the technique used. That is why you will receive individual aftercare guidance following your treatment. On this page, you will also find the most important general principles for the first stage of healing.

Aftercare by treatment area

Not every pigmented area responds in the same way. The brows, eyelids, lips and delicate skin beneath the eyes differ in their skin characteristics, movement and the demands placed on them in everyday life.

That is why, alongside the general aftercare principles, there are also specific recommendations for each treatment area.

Eyebrow aftercare

Freshly pigmented brows may initially appear more intense, and the skin may feel tight or slightly itchy. Fine crusting or flaking can develop during healing – please do not scratch, pick or remove it.

Take particular care when washing your face, drying it and washing your hair so that the pigmented skin is not unnecessarily rubbed or soaked. After your treatment, I will tailor any additional care to the area that has been pigmented and to how your skin is responding at the time.

What applies to every treatment area

Some basic aftercare principles apply regardless of which area has been pigmented.

Do not scratch or pick

Fine crusting and flakes of skin should come away naturally. Please do not pull or pick at them.

Avoid friction

Treat the pigmented skin as gently as possible during the early healing phase and avoid unnecessary pressure or friction.

Keep the area hygienic

Where possible, only touch the treated area with freshly washed hands and avoid unnecessary contamination.

Do not soak the area

Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas and prolonged or intensive contact with water during the early healing phase. I will explain any additional recommendations that apply to your particular treatment area after pigmentation.

Avoid heavy sweating

Avoid intensive exercise and heavy sweating during the early healing phase.

Keep cosmetics away from the area

Makeup, peels and active skincare ingredients should not be applied directly to freshly pigmented skin.

Follow your individual aftercare guidance

Whether any additional care is appropriate – and what that should involve – depends on the area treated, the method used and how your skin responds. You will receive specific recommendations from me after your treatment, and I am also here for you if you have questions while the area is healing.

If a more individually tailored skincare approach would also be beneficial, I can take your current skin condition into account within my skin and skincare concept and tailor your care accordingly.

Consider UV protection

During healing, the pigmented skin should not be exposed to intense direct sunlight. Once the area has healed, consistent UV protection is advisable.

How does Permanent Makeup change as it heals?

Aftercare and the healing process go hand in hand, but they serve different purposes. Here, you can find out what to keep in mind after your pigmentation treatment.

On my page about the healing process, I explain in more detail how the skin, colour intensity and visible result change over the days and weeks that follow.

WHEN TO CONTACT ME

Mild redness, sensitivity or swelling can occur immediately after pigmentation.

However, if symptoms become noticeably worse rather than improving, if the skin feels unusually hot or increasingly painful, if unusual discharge appears, or if you feel unwell or feverish, this should be medically assessed.

If you experience more pronounced symptoms around the eye or any changes to your vision, please seek medical assessment immediately.
