Baby Lips, Watercolour, Sensual & Ombré – which lip technique suits you best?
Not all lip pigmentation creates the same effect. Depending on the technique, colour, contour and intensity can be built up very differently – from almost sheer to much more defined.
Which approach suits you best depends on your natural lip colour, your starting shape and how much definition and colour you would like.
Here are the key differences between Baby Lips, Watercolour or Powder Lips, Sensual Lips and Ombré Lips.
Baby Lips –
the nude look
Baby Lips is a particularly subtle form of lip pigmentation. The colour is built up softly and transparently, enhancing your natural lip tone without bringing a clearly defined outline to the forefront.
The result is fresh and understated – ideal if you simply want to give your lips a very gentle hint of definition.
Watercolour Lips / Powder Lips – softly blended colour
Watercolour and Powder Lips create a softly built, even wash of colour. The pigmentation is blended without a hard lip contour and can range from very sheer to somewhat more intense.
This can help create a more harmonious natural lip colour and visually balance small variations in tone.
Sensual Lips – more definition and a clearer contour
With Sensual Lips, the lip contour is defined more clearly and blended into an evenly built-up colour. This can make the shape and proportions appear more balanced while also visually correcting minor asymmetries.
This technique is particularly well suited if you would like more definition and a more noticeable colour effect while still keeping the overall result harmonious.
Ombré Lips – graduated colour intensity
With Ombré Lips, the colour intensity is deliberately graduated. The contour and the main lip colour blend softly into one another, creating greater visual depth and definition.
Depending on the effect you want, the gradient can be kept very subtle or made more expressive.
